With Windows 7 released and currently making its way to shelves in time for the holiday season, we’ve taken this opportunity to upgrade our copy of the official Windows System Recovery Discs for compatibility with Windows 7.
If you’re like most PC users, you probably got Windows 7 with a new PC or laptop. And if you’re like 99% of the population, you get your new machines from one of the major manufacturers. Dell, Acer, HP, Toshiba, Lenovo; who all have one thing in common: they don’t give you a real Windows 7 installation disc with your purchase. Instead, they bundle what they call a “recovery disc” (that’s if you’re lucky – otherwise you’ll have a recovery partition instead) with your machine and leave it at that.
What it does: The Windows 7 Recovery Disc can be used to access a system recovery menu, giving you options of using System Restore, Complete PC Backup, automated system repair, and a command-line prompt for manual advanced recovery.
What it doesn’t do: You cannot use the Windows 7 Recovery Disc to re-install Windows – it only fixes (not replaces!) Windows.
Why you need it: If you bought your PC from a major retailer, you didn’t get this CD with your hefty purchase.
1. Unrar
2. Burn the .iso file to a CD using these instructions.( use UltraISO…)
3. When you want to use the recovery center, put the CD in your drive and boot from it. This is usually done by pressing F8 at startup, or changing the boot drive order in the BIOS

This Windows 7 RM OEM ISO is a non-brand specific image released to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and system builders, which in turn distribute and support the Windows 7 OEM disc to end-users.This OEM version of Windows 7 RM ISO is not to be confused with brand-specific Windows 7 recovery disc or image that is distributed by major PC vendors, which make use of OEM-specific digitally signed certificates (.xrm-ms) matching the BIOS ACPI_SLIC table and OEM royalty SLP (System-Locked Preinstallation) product key for instant offline SLP self-activation.
Instead, Windows 7 RM OEM DVD disc ISO requires OEM NON-SLP product keys to activate online or by phone, exactly similar with a retail product key, which is distributed and supported directly by Microsoft, or OEM COA serial numbers pasted on stickers of new PCs. The non OEM SLP key, from product key group ID 182, is similar with retail or upgrade product keys, it can be used only on one computer.

2. Double click on BitDefender setup.
3. BitDefender will ask for if you would like to download a new version of BitDefender. Click no.
4. Continue installation, and later skip activation.
5. Finish installation.
6. Once finished, do not launch BitDefender, and close the installation.
7. Go to the Patch, and apply it.

I have disabled and deleted the Classic Windows XP Install Screens with the info about XP and the blue Background.
You will just see a black background now and the install will look similar to 2000. This saves Space and gives more
info while installing.
The Minimum HD and RAM Requirements have been lifted. You can try and install this on whatever machine you like now.

Install Notes:
1. Burn the ISO using a program such as IMGBurn, Nero, Alcohol 120, Blindwrite, ect… (Burn at a slow Speed to ensure no errors, 1x-4x)
2. Change Bios Priority settings so it boots from the CD-ROM Drive First. (You may be able to skip this step)
3. Insert Disc and Reboot PC, Follow the on screen prompts and enjoy.
Notes:
If you are getting errors while copying files. It’s your CD, not the release. Try burning it to different brand of cd/media and try burning at the slowest speed possible.
I just tested this in VMWare and it works flawless. You should get between 16-19 Processes and under 100mb of ram usage when using the computer initially. Everything you install/use will obviously increase this, however its the leanest XP Copy around.

People are always like, “IE Sucks, Take it out.” I would if I could, but removing IE can cause a lot of problems with other applications. Its better left in and just not used. Same goes for Outlook Express. This also contains NO drivers. Don’t ask why you have low resolution, go install your graphics drivers. Don’t ask why your wireless card won’t work, go install its drivers.
